Taipei: Taiwan is prepared to retaliate if attacked suddenly by China. Taiwan’s military has declared its readiness to retaliate immediately if attacked unexpectedly, as it faces increasing military pressure from China.
According to Thai News Agency, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense released a report to members of parliament stating that the Taiwanese military has the capability to respond quickly, with all units able to act immediately without waiting for orders from higher authorities. The report also noted that China is increasing the frequency and scope of its military operations each year, including regular reconnaissance patrols. The Taiwanese military has standard operating procedures for enhancing its readiness should China escalate its military exercises into warfare.
Taiwan has repeatedly emphasized that China could suddenly escalate routine training into combat, launching a surprise attack. The near-daily military operations around Taiwan are part of a deliberate campaign to disrupt and wear down Taiwanese forces, forcing them to remain constantly on alert.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense issued a statement yesterday saying that Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te is creating a sense of Chinese threat and stirring up anxiety about war. China hopes that the majority of Taiwanese people will realize the danger and seriousness of preparing for war to achieve Taiwan’s independence.
