Tak Provincial Public Health Office Probes Hospital Director’s Alleged Involvement in Refugee Education Support

Bangkok: The Tak Provincial Public Health Office has initiated an investigation into the director of Tha Song Yang Hospital following allegations of their involvement in supporting the education of migrant children in refugee camps.

According to Thai News Agency, the Tak Provincial Public Health Office addressed online reports that implicated a hospital director from Tak province in activities related to the education of migrant children in temporary shelters. Tak province, situated along a border, faces unique challenges in managing the care of individuals seeking refuge from conflict. Such management must adhere to the legal frameworks and policies set by various governmental agencies, including those in education, security, governance, and public health.

The Tak Provincial Public Health Office emphasizes its commitment to public health, focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and control, particularly for children and vulnerable populations. It acknowledges that the education and mobility of children in these shelters are subject to laws and regulations that require the coordination of multiple agencies.

While hospitals under the Tak Provincial Public Health Office are not authorized to make decisions regarding education for children in temporary shelters, the office has pledged to investigate the involvement of the Tha Song Yang Hospital director in these allegations. Should the investigation reveal any misconduct or illegal activities, appropriate disciplinary actions will be enforced.
