Kalasin: A teacher in Kalasin Province is facing a possible transfer following allegations of excessively punishing a fifth-grade student, resulting in bruising and swelling on the child's back. The incident, which has garnered widespread criticism online, has prompted local authorities to intervene and offer support to the affected family.

According to Thai News Agency, the issue came to light after a Facebook post showed the condition of the student's back, sparking outrage over the severity of the punishment. The teacher allegedly beat the student, along with others, for failing to submit homework on time. The student's mother insists on pursuing legal action, deeming the punishment excessively harsh.

In response to the incident, Mr. Phakorn Pimphanit, Member of Parliament for Kalasin Constituency 2, and officials from the Kalasin Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, visited the student's home to provide encouragement and assistance. The investigation has revealed that 11 students were beaten, with two sustaining severe bruises. The teacher is expected to be transferred by Monday, September 7th, pending further investigation.

Parents of the affected students have expressed their concerns to the school principal and have filed a police report. They have requested the teacher's transfer due to fears for their children's safety. The principal noted that the teacher admitted to the act, expressing remorse and taking responsibility.

Yang Talat Police Station is conducting a formal investigation, interviewing the parents, the student, and the teacher involved. Legal proceedings will follow based on the findings of the investigation.
