Bangkok: Ms. Kardee Leowpairoj, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, has publicly addressed the ongoing legal proceedings concerning her involvement with the Th-AI Passport project. She recently received a summons for a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 28, 2026, in a criminal case under the Computer Crime Act. The case, initiated by the company contracted for the Th-AI Passport project, claims a Facebook post by Ms. Kardee is the basis for the lawsuit.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Kardee has raised questions about whether this legal action constitutes a SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation). Her concerns stem from the potential misuse of legal procedures to burden individuals performing oversight in the public interest. She emphasized that her Facebook post, which sparked the lawsuit, was intended to raise questions grounded in academic and ethical considerations, without directly referencing the involved companies. On July 27th, Ms. Kardee formally addressed these issues in an open letter to the Minister of Digital Economy and Society.

Ms. Kardee reaffirmed her dedication to public service, stating that her involvement in the Th-AI Passport project has always been driven by the intent to safeguard taxpayer money and protect national interests.
