Tbilisi: The Thai embassy has confirmed that it has not received any notification from Georgian police regarding the death of Hlun Solo. The Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara has requested clarification concerning an inaccurate date in the information provided about the incident.

According to Thai News Agency, the embassy has addressed inquiries about its handling of the death of Mr. Bowornthat Pengsuk, also known as "Hlun Solo." The embassy clarified that there was no notification from the Georgian police on July 14, 2026, as was previously reported in the news.

Embassy staff arrived in Tbilisi at 8:30 PM on July 29, 2026, and went directly to the Georgian police station. They were informed by the officer in charge that an email had been sent to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 14, 2026, requesting notification to Thai authorities. However, the embassy had not received any direct communication from the Georgian police.

On July 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM, embassy officials met with representatives from the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who provided an official notification of Mr. Bowornthat's death. The notification, dated July 29, 2026, was in Georgian with an unofficial English translation.

The embassy has asked the Georgian side to investigate the reason behind the letter sent by the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 29, 2026, after the embassy had already reached out regarding the case on July 28, 2026, following reports of Mr. Bowornthat's disappearance.

The embassy reaffirms its commitment to providing consular assistance with due diligence based on reliable information from the receiving state's authorities and in accordance with international law, while respecting the privacy of the deceased and their families.
