Bangkok: "Thai Helps Thai" campaign kicks off nationwide on May 1st, opening sales points in 878 districts to support Thai SMEs in transitioning to online platforms. Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the project is aimed at alleviating the burden of living costs for the public, with affordable consumer goods available at all district offices nationwide. The initiative will begin on Friday, May 1, 2026, and continue with Phase 2.
According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior, and major retailers such as Makro, Lotus's, Big C, TOPS, and Go Wholesale, has established sales points to provide convenient access to affordable products near homes. Sales will occur every Friday throughout May: May 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.
This collaborative effort builds on operations that commenced on April 1, 2026, with the sale of "Thai Helps Thai" products through large wholesale and retail outlets. The initiative is expanding to include local retailers and online platforms like Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, GrabMart, and LINE MAN.
Phase 2 of the project will further support Thai SMEs by piloting the program with 2,000 businesses, aiding them in selling their products online. This aims to expand market opportunities and enhance access to new markets, with government support measures such as free shipping and 500,000 discount coupons valued at 100 baht each. Additionally, private platforms will waive their GP fees to reduce costs for entrepreneurs.
The deputy spokesperson noted that the measure aims to increase public access to affordable goods. Products include house brands from modern wholesale and retail stores, with over 3,000 essential consumer goods items discounted up to 58%, along with alternative brands participating in the promotion.
The public is encouraged to purchase "Thai Helps Thai" products at all 878 district offices nationwide starting May 1, 2026.
