“Thai Helps Thai” Campaign Sparks Economic Activity in Nam Phong District

Nam phong: The "Thai people helping Thai people" campaign in Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen Province, is bustling with activity as village heads and community leaders flock to buy affordable goods. The initiative is aimed at reducing the burden and cost of living, drawing residents and community leaders to purchase essential consumer goods at reduced prices.

According to Thai News Agency, the campaign, officially known as "Thai Helps Thai," was inaugurated with an event that coincided with the monthly village headman meeting. This strategic timing allowed Mr. Korchawanwich Chaipeerawas, District Chief of Nam Phong District, to publicize the event effectively, urging community leaders to spread the word among the public. The event features large wholesale retailers offering consumer goods at affordable rates, alongside OTOP products from the local area, thus stimulating the local economy.

The campaign venue, located at the Nam Phong District Office, saw a lively atmosphere as citizens attending the monthly meeting took the opportunity to purchase essential daily necessities at reduced prices. The initiative not only aims to alleviate household expenses but also fosters economic activity in the district.

To further support local entrepreneurs, registration for mobile vendors, specifically motorcycle sidecar trucks, was opened. As of now, 23 sidecar trucks have registered, each receiving a fuel subsidy of 1,500 baht per month. Additionally, a single motorcycle sidecar truck has registered to receive a 3,000 baht monthly fuel subsidy, all intended to lower operating costs for business owners.

Ms. Somjit Sila-asorn, a resident of Nam Phong District, expressed her satisfaction with the campaign, noting her ability to purchase cooking oil at a price approximately 10 baht cheaper per bottle than the market rate. She emphasized the significance of such events in reducing living costs and hoped for their continuity to allow residents more financial freedom for other expenditures.
