Thai Helps Thai Initiative Launches to Lower Living Costs Nationwide

Bangkok: The "Thai Helps Thai x Local Low Cost" campaign, aimed at reducing the cost of living, will commence on August 1st. This initiative features discounted products across 17 categories, with participation from over 130 wholesalers and retailers nationwide.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced the collaboration between the government and the Ministry of Commerce, alongside major consumer goods manufacturers and local wholesalers and retailers. The "Thai Helps Thai: Reduce the Burden, Lower the Cost of Living x Local Low Cost" event will run from August 1-15, 2026, providing much-needed financial relief for the public. In response to public inquiries about the discounted products and their locations, the government has provided detailed information to assist in planning expenditures.

The Deputy Spokesperson outlined that the campaign includes 17 categories of essential daily consumer goods. These are segmented into 8 consumable goods categories, such as rice, fish sauce, cooking oil, soy sauce, sugar, instant noodles, canned food, and coffee, and 9 non-consumable goods categories, including shampoo, soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent, toilet cleaner, dishwashing liquid, tissue paper, and sanitary products. Renowned brands such as Chatchat, Mama, Sam Mae Krua, Nescaf©, Sunsilk, Colgate, Omo, Downy, Lipon F, and Sofy are participating in this initiative.

Ms. Lalida highlighted that the special-priced products will be available at participating local wholesale and retail stores nationwide. These include popular local outlets like Jamfah Savemart in Lamphun, Thanapiriya in Chiang Rai, Tang Ngisun Superstore in Udon Thani, Kiatsin Wholesale in Khon Kaen, Chai Saeng Dee Department Store in Sing Buri, Big Tae in Pathum Thani, Supercheap in Phuket, and KandK Superstore in Songkhla. Altogether, more than 135 local stores with over 800 branches are involved. The public can verify participating stores in their province via the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce's announcement or by identifying the 'Thai Chuay Thai x Local Low Cost' symbol at sales points.

Ms. Lalida emphasized that this event is a joint effort between consumer goods manufacturers and local retailers to provide essential goods at reduced prices, thereby easing household expenses, creating business opportunities for local shops, and energizing the grassroots economy.

The government encourages the public to shop for essential goods from August 1st to 15th, 2026, at nearby participating local stores to benefit from the price reductions. Ms. Lalida also advised that product availability and discounts may vary by store due to inventory levels, suggesting that consumers check details at the point of sale.
