Bangkok: The Football Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage has launched the 2026/27 Thai League season with a focus on elevating the standards of Thai football. This season marks the 30th anniversary of the league, celebrated under the theme "A New Era for the Thai League - Raising the Game."
According to Thai News Agency, the press conference was held at Siam Paragon on August 28, 2026, and was led by "Madam Pang" Nualphan Lamsam, President of the Football Association of Thailand. The event was attended by notable figures, including Mr. Prathanwong Pornprapha, CEO of Rªver Group, and Mr. Nanthapol Thongnilphan from the Sports Authority of Thailand, among others. Several sponsors and representatives from Thai League teams also participated in the event.
"Madam Pang" expressed pride in the league's journey over the past 30 years, emphasizing its growth from having no spectators or sponsors to becoming a strong professional football league. The Thai League now ranks 7th in Asia and 3rd in East Asia, with the upcoming season featuring the most qualification spots in Asian cup competitions in its history.
The league's popularity continues to rise, with significant increases in attendance figures across all professional leagues. The broadcasting rights, valued at 500 million baht per year, are secured by AIS, GULF, and JAS until the 2028/29 season, with an option for extension.
The upcoming season features 103 professional clubs across three leagues, highlighting the league's stability and strength. The inaugural matches for the BYD SEALION 6 LEAGUE 1 and BYD SEAL 5 LEAGUE 2 will kick off on September 4, 2026. The BYD DOLPHIN LEAGUE 3 will begin on September 19, 2026, and the PEA U-21 Youngster League will start on September 15, 2026.
