Nonthaburi: The Thai men’s futsal team delivered a commanding performance against Malaysia, securing a 7-1 victory in their opening match of the 2025 SEA Games. The win earned them three crucial points as they commenced their campaign to claim the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games.

According to Thai News Agency, the match, held at Nonthaburi Stadium, kicked off with a strong start from Thailand. Just one minute into the game, Worasak Sriharangpairoj scored from close range inside the penalty area, giving Thailand an early lead. The momentum continued as Chaowalai Sriawut extended the lead to 2-0 in the 7th minute with another shot from inside the penalty area. A minute later, Muhammad Usman Musa further widened the gap to 3-0 with his first goal of the match.

Despite Malaysia’s efforts, they could only manage a consolation goal before the 12th minute, courtesy of Mohammad Alwaluddin, making it 1-3. However, Thailand was quick to respond, with Muhammad Usman Musa adding another goal before halftime, ending the first half at 4-1.

In the second half, Thailand continued their dominance. In the 37th minute, Musa completed his hat-trick, followed by goals from Athipong Munphlai and Ronachai Choongwongsook, sealing a decisive 7-1 victory. This win not only marked a strong start for the Thai team but also set a high standard for their upcoming matches.

The Thai men’s futsal team is set to face Myanmar next at Nonthaburi Stadium on December 16th at 7:00 PM, as they aim to continue their pursuit of the gold medal in the round-robin formatted competition.
