Bangkok: The Royal Thai Navy Commander has stated that a Cambodian casino building encroaching on the border of Ban Tha Sen, Trat Province, must be demolished. Thailand is prepared to undertake the demolition, but insists that Cambodia should bear the costs.

According to Thai News Agency, Admiral Pairoj Fuangchan, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, addressed the issue of three houses previously built across from Ban Nong Ree in Chamrak Subdistrict, which have already been demolished. Admiral Pairoj emphasized that any future actions will be taken as directed by the government. He reiterated that the principle remains clear: the entity responsible for building the structure is responsible for its demolition. If Cambodia refuses to dismantle the casino, Thailand will seek reimbursement for the demolition costs.

Rear Admiral Parat Rattanachaipan, the Royal Thai Navy spokesman, highlighted concerns about the three houses, noting that Cambodian forces have increased their presence in the area. The Thai side has constructed a road to the site to facilitate tactical operations and maintain organization along the border. Negotiations are ongoing to resolve the situation without escalating tensions.

The presence of explosives and mines in the dense forested area has posed challenges for Thai operations. The Chanthaburi and Trat Border Defence Command, in collaboration with local residents, has worked to improve access. The Navy remains cautious to prevent any further escalation of tensions in the region.
