Thai Red Cross Society Launches Blood Donation Campaign with Beauty Incentive

Bangkok: The National Blood Centre of the Thai Red Cross Society has announced a collaborative campaign aimed at encouraging blood donation while offering a unique incentive. The campaign, titled "Beautiful Body and Mind, Be Beautiful Now, Don't Wait for the Next Life," invites healthy individuals to donate blood from May 25th to 29th, 2026, at the National Blood Centre on Henri Dunant Road. Participants will receive a beauty set from a famous brand as a token of appreciation.

According to Thai News Agency, Associate Professor Dr. Dujjai Chaiwanichsiri, Director of the National Blood Center, stated that the target for blood procurement in May 2026 is 250,000 units nationwide. So far, only 88,907 units have been collected, leaving a significant shortfall of 161,093 units, or 64%. The initiative is part of an effort to maintain a daily reserve of 3,000 units and to promote continuous blood donation every three months to meet patient needs across the country.

The campaign emphasizes the importance of donor eligibility and preparation, advising potential donors to ensure they are in good health and ready to donate blood. Recommendations include getting sufficient sleep, informing medical personnel of any current medications, and drinking 300-500 cc of water before donating. Donors are also advised to eat a regular meal beforehand, avoid high-fat foods, refrain from smoking for at least an hour before and after donation, and abstain from alcohol for 24 hours prior to and following the donation. Additionally, individuals are cautioned against engaging in risky sexual behavior and are urged to answer health questions honestly for their safety and that of recipients.

The campaign serves as a reminder of the crucial role blood donors play in healthcare and aims to encourage more people to contribute to this life-saving effort while enjoying a special reward.
