Pattaya: The Thai surfing team showcased their form by winning three championships in the Techno 293 and Techno 293 Plus categories at Jomtien Beach.
According to Thai News Agency, the Asia Windsurfing Championships took place from November 25-30, 2025, at Jomtien Beach, Pattaya City, Chonburi Province. Athletes from nine Asian countries, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, India, Hong Kong, and Thailand, as well as competitors from Italy, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom, participated in the event. The Windsurfing Association of Thailand fielded six athletes, who performed excellently, securing three championships.
In the Techno 293 Plus Open Category, Petty Officer 1st Class Nawin Singhat clinched the championship with 15 lost points. The second and third places were secured by Amboy Renz Angelo from the Philippines and Muhammad Izzuddin Bin Abdul Rani from Malaysia, respectively. Notably, Daigo Komatsu from Japan, the latest world champion, finished in fourth place.
In the Techno 293 category for under 17 years old, female, Kankanya Panthong emerged as the champion with 13 lost points. Competitors from Hong Kong, Kia Wing and Wing Sui Vince Lo, took the second and third places, respectively.
The male under 17 category saw “Park” Supachai Chueatatong win with 24 lost points, followed closely by Ing Hoi Tik from Hong Kong and Kian Chuedo from the Philippines. Itthiphon Yomchinda finished third in the under 15 category, while Eddie Armand Enur from Singapore claimed the championship.
Simultaneously, the “Thailand International Windsurfing Championship,” a test event for the 33rd SEA Games, was held. Aticha Homraruen and Taehun Lee emerged victorious in the IQ Foil Women’s and Men’s Open categories, respectively, while Phasapong Lianglam won the IQ Foil Under 19 division.
The awards and closing ceremonies were attended by several dignitaries, including Mr. Kritsana Bunsawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, and Mr. Phatthana Bunsawat, Secretary-General of the Windsurfing Association. Mr. Phatthana Bunsawat expressed admiration for the athletes’ dedication and effort, noting that their performance was a testament to their intensive training and preparation for the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.
Mr. Phatthana Bunsawat emphasized the importance of the event as a test run for the SEA Games and expressed confidence in the readiness and preparation of the Thai athletes, who aim to win four gold medals.
