Thai Taekwondo Team Sets Sights on Gold at Turkey Open

Bangkok: The Thai national taekwondo team is gearing up for the upcoming Turkey Open 2026 with the aim of clinching a gold medal. Under the guidance of assistant coach Chatchawan Khaolao, the team is in intensive training at the Taekwondo Training Center of the Sports Authority of Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, the team is spearheaded by world champion "Yu" Banglang Thabthimdaeng and 2025 SEA Games gold medalist "Bai Toey" Sasikarn Thongchan. Coach Max emphasized the importance of enhancing both physical strength and tactical skills, setting a gold medal victory as a stepping stone for future international contests.

"Yu" Banglang Thabtimdaeng expressed confidence in his current physical condition and readiness, stating that the entire team is dedicated to rigorous training. He aims to avenge his previous defeat to a Turkish opponent and is focused solely on securing the gold medal.

Sasikarn Thongchan, known as "Bai Toey," shared her efforts in improving fitness and adjusting to new competition rules. She acknowledged Turkey as a formidable opponent but remains determined to give her best performance to achieve her gold medal goal.
