Bangkok: Thai men’s and women’s volleyball teams are setting their sights on securing gold medals at the upcoming 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. Chatchu-on “Bumbim” Moksri, the captain of the Thai women’s volleyball team, is determined to lead her team to defend their championship title. The men’s team is equally focused on competing for the top spot.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai women’s national volleyball team, which has claimed the SEA Games championship 16 times, with the last 14 consecutively, is rigorously training at the Sports Science Center, Sports Authority of Thailand. The team is guided by head coach “Coach Oat” Kiattipong Rachatakeangkrai and features key players like “Bumbim” Chatchu-on Moksri, “Pure” Ajcharaporn Kongyot, and “Beam” Pimpichaya Kokram. Coach Oat expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, highlighting their intensive training in crucial skills such as serving, receiving, and scoring. He plans to finalize the team roster on December 7.
Team captain Chatchu-on Moksri emphasized the team’s commitment to the SEA Games, stating that they are more than 100% prepared. She also called on Thai volleyball fans for their support, anticipating a packed stadium to cheer them on.
The men’s team, coached by South Korean Park Ki-won and led by captain Amornthep Khonhan, is equally determined to reach the finals. The team aims to secure a spot in the Asian Volleyball Championship. Captain Amornthep Khonhan noted the team’s readiness and determination to win gold, acknowledging the support of home fans but also recognizing the strength of their opponents, particularly Singapore.
The 33rd SEA Games will feature four gold medals in volleyball, with competitions taking place at Indoor Stadium Huamark and Jomtien Beach, Chonburi Province. The indoor volleyball events are scheduled from December 10-19. The Thai women’s team will start their campaign against Singapore on December 10, while the men’s team will face Singapore on December 13.
