Thai Women’s Volleyball Team Clinches 17th SEA Games Title After Thrilling Match Against Vietnam

Bangkok: The Thai women’s national volleyball team triumphed over Vietnam in a nail-biting match, securing their 17th SEA Games championship with a 3-2 victory. This win marks their 15th consecutive title, solidifying their dominance in the regional competition.

According to Thai News Agency, the final match took place at the Indoor Stadium Hua Mak, where Thailand, ranked 18th globally, faced off against Vietnam, ranked 28th. The Thai team’s starting lineup included “Captain Bumbim” Chatchu-on Moksri, “Beam” Pimpichaya Kokram, “Aomsin” Sasipaporn Chantavisut, and middle blockers “Nan” Thaddao Nuekjaeng and “Kai” Wimolrat Thanaphan. “Chompoo” Pornpun Guedparach served as the setter, while Piyanut Paennoy was the libero.

The match captivated the audience, going to five sets amidst fervent cheers from Thai fans. The final set was particularly tense, with Thailand ultimately securing victory through a decisive serve from “Beam” Pimpichaya, ending the game 3-2 with set scores of 19-25, 25-13, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-23. “Aomsin Sasipaporn” led the team with 28 points, closely followed by “Beam” Pimpichaya with 24 points.

Team captain “Bum Bim” Chatchu-on Moksri reflected on the intensity of the game, acknowledging Vietnam’s strong performance and apologizing to fans for the suspenseful match. She expressed dissatisfaction with her performance but commended her teammates’ perseverance.

Head coach “Coach Ott” Kiatipong Ratchatagriangrai praised the Thai team’s efforts and congratulated them on their victory.
