Bangkok: Thai youth won 4 medals at the International Nuclear Science Olympiad 2026, bringing honor to Thailand in the field of nuclear science.
According to Thai News Agency, the National Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization), or NINT, held a ceremony to congratulate and award Thai youth representatives who achieved outstanding results at the International Nuclear Science Olympiad 2026 (INSO 2026) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. All four Thai representatives won medals, totaling 1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, reflecting the potential of Thai youth in nuclear science on an international stage. The ceremony took place at the Centara Grand at CentralPlaza Ladprao, Bangkok, and was presided over by Professor Dr. Yoschanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, who presented the awards and offered congratulations to the Thai representatives. Executives from related agencies, faculty members, teachers, and students also attended the event.
The International Nuclear Science Olympiad 2026 (INSO 2026) was held from August 2-9, 2026 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. All four Thai youth representatives won awards at the competition. Mr. Peer Kulabthip from Kamnoedwit School secured a gold medal, while Mr. Thammapapon Sukhsuthawong from Triam Udom Suksa School earned a silver medal. Additionally, Mr. Thammaphisut Premsingchai from Kamnoedwit School and Mr. Setthawat Watanakosai from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School each took home a bronze medal.
Professor Dr. Yoschanan expressed his admiration and congratulations to the Thai youth representatives, stating that their success in this competition not only brought fame and pride to the country, but the experience they gained was more valuable than any medal. This included knowledge in nuclear science, the development of critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills, as well as the opportunity to meet and exchange experiences with young people from various countries. This will be a crucial foundation for their self-development and future education. Building a workforce in science and technology from a young age is a vital foundation for national development, especially as energy and nuclear technology play an increasingly important role globally. The Thailand Nuclear Science Olympiad (ThaiNSO) served as the main host for Thailand, selecting and preparing young representatives for international competitions.
