Bangkok: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is spearheading an initiative named 'THAI T'REASURES' to enhance the international profile of Thai cultural assets and position Thailand as a preeminent destination for fashion tourism. This ambitious project seeks to transform the nation's rich cultural heritage into contemporary fashion, thereby attracting global attention.
According to Thai News Agency, the 'THAI T'REASURES by Amazing Thailand' project is scheduled to take place from September 18-20, 2026, at River Park, ICONSIAM. The initiative will highlight Thailand's cultural heritage through wearable fashion, developed in collaboration with the Gem and Jewelry Federation of Thailand, designer brands, emerging designers, artists, students, and textile entrepreneurs. The project aims to showcase the value of Thai textiles, gemstones, handicrafts, and local wisdom through modern designs, thereby generating income for Thai textile communities. Under the banner of 'Thailand's Best,' the project seeks to create a fresh image of 'cool Thai fashion' that appeals to the younger generation, integrates into tourism experiences, and showcases Thailand's charm globally.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatpaiboon, Governor of TAT, expressed that the initiative aims to promote tourism by leveraging Thai cultural assets such as Thai silk, gemstones, handicrafts, and local wisdom. Each region's unique stories and identities will be incorporated into contemporary fashion to resonate with the lifestyles and interests of today's audience, particularly younger generations. This fresh take on "Thailand's finest" will make cultural heritage accessible and tangible to tourists, enhancing the country's appeal as a global fashion hub.
The event will feature fashion shows and product exhibitions that connect fashion with stories of tourist destinations and communities. On the first day, eight leading designer brands will collaborate under the theme '365 Days of Stylish Thai Fashion Every Day,' showcasing Thai fabrics and jewelry for various occasions. The second day will spotlight emerging designers, providing them a platform to present their work. The final day will feature fashion design students from local universities, showcasing the potential of upcoming designers through a contemporary lens.
In addition to fashion shows, the 'WEAR THE DESTINATION' exhibition will present the stories and identities of Thai textiles, connecting fabrics with tourist attractions and regional lifestyles. This exhibition will feature contemporary Thai fashion and jewelry from various entrepreneurs and communities, highlighting the diversity and traditional knowledge of each region.
A significant highlight is the TAT €” THAI DESIGNER COLLABORATION, which involves the creation of product prototypes in collaboration with Thai designers. These include RAVIPA's Naga-themed jewelry collection, PREMIUM POPS €” TRK's fashion textiles and hats with Thai art patterns, and THITHA's garments made from sustainable materials. These designs reflect the integration of faith, art, culture, wisdom, and sustainability, aiming to develop practical tourism lifestyle products with commercial potential.
'THAI T'REASURES' not only showcases Thailand's cultural heritage but also serves as a platform to present Thai cultural identity on the global stage through contemporary design. The project aims to inspire tourists to explore the stories and lifestyles of different Thai regions, leading to added value in tourism and sustainable income distribution to communities and entrepreneurs.
By connecting fashion with raw materials, production sources, community artisans, and destinations, 'THAI T'REASURES' seeks to transform products into travel experiences. TAT anticipates that this project will generate at least 100 million baht in revenue, fostering economic value creation, income distribution, and driving Thailand towards becoming a world-class Fashion Tourism destination.
