Bangkok: "Attaphol" affirms that there is no fuel shortage and they can cope if the fighting is prolonged. Energy Minister Attapol Rerkpiboon has assured the public that Thailand will not face a fuel shortage even if the conflict in the Middle East extends beyond 90 days. Measures are being put in place to adjust specifications for imported refined oil, enhancing the country's ability to source fuel from various suppliers.

According to Thai News Agency, Energy Minister Attapol Rerkpiboon addressed concerns related to securing additional oil reserves. He mentioned that the reserves are being replenished gradually, in line with transportation schedules, while also taking into account the available storage capacity. The process of refilling tanks will be confirmed over the next one to two weeks.

Mr. Atthapol expressed confidence in Thailand's ability to avoid a fuel shortage. He urged the public to refrain from panic buying, which previously led to doubled sales and transportation challenges. Some gas stations had to increase delivery trips, sometimes unable to meet demand. The public was advised against hoarding fuel due to its flammable nature.

In response to the potential long-term impact of the Middle East conflict on Thailand's oil reserves, Mr. Atthapol outlined a strategy to secure new supplies while conserving existing resources. This includes increasing the use of biofuels over crude oil and suspending exports to bolster reserves. Efforts are underway to adjust import specifications for refined oil products, allowing for improved flexibility in sourcing energy. Various measures are being implemented concurrently to address the situation.
