Bangkok: The Thai Go Association is advancing its mission to cultivate Thai youth for global success with the launch of the 'Young GO Fast Track' project. The initiative was unveiled during the association's 2026 Annual General Meeting, held in the Seki Room at their headquarters. The meeting was attended by notable figures including Mr. Korsak Chairasmisak, founder of the Thailand Go Association; Mr. Wichien Jungviroj, President of the Thailand Go Association; committee members; and Mr. Jamorn Jamri from the Sports Authority of Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, the association, which evolved from the Thailand Go Club established in 1993, has been dedicated to Go instruction, organizing competitions, and supporting athletes to achieve international excellence. The game of Go is recognized for enhancing critical thinking, analytical skills, and discipline, which are fundamental for youth development. The association also highlights the potential career opportunities in Go, such as teaching, professional play, or starting a Go school.

Mr. Korsak Chairasmisak commended the high skill level of Thai Go players and emphasized maintaining quality standards. With over 1 million Go players in Thailand, the sport continues to thrive. Mr. Wichian Jungviroj outlined strategic goals, including increasing player numbers, expanding the Go community, developing Go stars, securing sponsorships, and building the Go brand.

The Young Go Fast Track project focuses on nurturing young talent aged 6-15 through intensive training programs to increase the number of skilled amateur 6-dan players. The project recruits youth with a skill level of 1 Kyu or higher for on-site training with professional players, preparing them for national and international competitions.

Participants like nine-year-old Preem and Tara, both 1-dan players, expressed their enthusiasm for the program, highlighting its role in skill development and personal growth. The Young Go Fast Track project aims to create new rising stars and establish a strong foundation for the future of Thai Go.
