“Thailand Helps Thailand” Project Launches to Boost SMEs and Reduce Living Costs

Bangkok: "Thailand Helps Thailand" kicks off nationwide on May 1st, opening sales points in 878 districts to support Thai SMEs in transitioning to online platforms.

According to Thai News Agency, the initiative, spearheaded by Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, aims to alleviate the burden of living costs for the public and expand its reach across all channels. Affordable consumer goods will be available at every district office nationwide, with the project's continuous rollout starting on May 1, 2026, and moving into its second phase thereafter.

The Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior, and modern trade retailers such as Makro, Lotus's, Big C, TOPS, and Go Wholesale, is setting up "Thai Helps Thai" sales points. These will provide convenient access to affordable products near residents' homes, with sales occurring every Friday throughout May: May 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.

This initiative builds on operations that began on April 1, 2026, initially involving large wholesale and retail stores. It is now expanding to include local retailers and online platforms like Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, GrabMart, and LINE MAN.

In its second phase, the project will further support Thai SMEs by initially piloting with 2,000 businesses, enabling them to sell their products online. This effort aims to expand market opportunities and improve their access to new markets, supported by government measures such as free shipping and 500,000 discount coupons worth 100 baht each. Additionally, private platforms will waive their gross profit (GP) fees to reduce costs for entrepreneurs.

Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana emphasized that the measure seeks to increase public access to affordable goods. The products, including house brands from modern wholesale and retail stores, feature over 3,000 essential consumer items with discounts up to 58%, along with alternative brands participating in the promotion.

The public is encouraged to purchase "Thai Helps Thai" products at all 878 district offices nationwide, starting from May 1, 2026.
