Bangkok: Today marks a significant milestone for Thailand's digital government system as online criminal background checks officially become available, enhancing the convenience and efficiency of accessing public services. Starting July 15th, citizens can utilize the Criminal Records Division's website to easily check their criminal records, with results sent instantly via email.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksameesangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the launch of this "Online Criminal Background Check" system aligns with the government's digital policy. This initiative aims to transform the civil service system into a fully online service (Zero Paper), integrating data across all agencies through a single Super App and promoting transparency through Open Data. The system, developed by the Criminal Records Division of the Royal Thai Police, enables individuals to conduct background checks using their name, surname, and national identification number, streamlining processes for job applications and other transactions.
Ms. Ploytalay detailed the process, emphasizing the system's convenience, speed, and security. Citizens can access the service via the official website, www.crd.go.th/bg/landing, following these four steps: 1) Fill out the application form on the website; 2) Verify identity through the ThaiD application or by using the laser code on the back of the national ID card; 3) Complete the online payment through various methods, including Mobile Banking and QR Code scanning; 4) Receive the results via email, accompanied by a secure digital signature.
The system provides flexibility for users, allowing those who verify their identity through the ThaiD application to access their records anywhere, anytime. Alternatively, individuals preferring physical documents can collect them at service points such as the Criminal Records Division and various Forensic Science Centers nationwide. For additional assistance, citizens can contact the Name and Surname Verification Unit at 0 2205 1347 or visit the official website.
