Bangkok: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has opened a Crisis Tourism Situation Monitoring Centre (CAPM) to urgently coordinate aid for tourists stranded by severe floods across Thailand’s southern provinces, Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool announced. The flooding has paralyzed travel and heavily impacted areas including Songkhla (especially Hat Yai), Yala, and Nakhon Si Thammarat, leaving many international visitors unable to leave their accommodation.
According to Thai News Agency, the TAT is prioritizing immediate coordination with embassies and consulates to move stranded visitors to safe shelters. Concurrently, the agency is preparing daily updates to control misinformation and formulating a plan to support affected operators and restore tourism confidence once the floodwaters recede.
Governor Thapanee confirmed the TAT has already received lists of stranded tourists and affected hotels from various consulates and is working with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and local agencies to expedite aid.
Tourists requiring urgent assistance or updated travel information are advised to contact the TAT Call Center at 1672 or the Tourist Police Hotline at 1155.
