Thammanat Unaware of DSI and AMLO Search of Chonnapat’s House

Bangkok: Captain Thamanat Phromphao, a party-list MP and chairman of the advisory board of the Kla Tham Party, expressed his lack of awareness regarding the recent raid conducted by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) at the residence of Chonnapat Naksua, a Kla Tham Party MP for Songkhla. Thamanat emphasized that the issue is a personal matter and does not bear any impact on the Kla Tham Party. Meanwhile, Pai Lik, Secretary-General of the Kla Tham Party, promised to personally update the media on the situation.

According to Thai News Agency, the raid was a result of Chonnapat Naksua's alleged involvement in an online gambling ring. Thamanat commented on the raid, stating, "I don't even know anything about it." He further mentioned that the Ministry of Justice is preparing a press release, and they must wait to see the details. He highlighted his parliamentary immunity and the protections it might offer in this situation.

When asked about the potential consequences for the Kla Tham Party, Thamanat dismissed any concerns, stating, "It's irrelevant; it's an individual's fault." He also mentioned not having communicated with Mr. Chonnapat and questioned the media's focus on this issue rather than his parliamentary work.

Thamanat assured the media of his dedication to his parliamentary duties, stating, "You'll find out soon. We will perform our duties as representatives of the people." However, when the media pressed further on Chonnapat's claim of having spoken with Thamanat, he deflected the question with a laugh.

Mr. Pai Lik intervened, informing the media that he would personally call Mr. Chonnapat to inquire about the details of the raid and would later provide updates. Pai emphasized the need to handle the matter internally before sharing information with the media.
