Bangkok: Thammanat Phromphao has returned to Thailand, sparking speculation about his potential role in the government. Attention is centered on Thammanat's decision about joining the government amidst rumors of efforts to attract defectors to support the Bhumjaithai Party.
According to Thai News Agency, Captain Thammanat, who serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives and is the chairman of the advisory board of the Kla Tham Party, is expected at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives following a family trip to Finland. His arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport has intensified discussions about the future of the Kla Tham Party. Whether the party will align as an opposition or join the Bhumjaithai Party, which reportedly has a 300-seat deal to form a government, remains uncertain. Mr. Pai Lik, the party's secretary-general, confirmed that the Kla Tham Party has made no demands and that Captain Thammanat has not sought any positions. He stated that the party is willing to adhere to any requirements set by the Bhumjaithai Party.

At the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Chuwit Pitakpornphallop, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Mr. Nares Thamrongthipyakun, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, confirmed Captain Thammanat's return. However, it remains uncertain whether he will visit the ministry today. There are no scheduled meetings, and Mr. Nares stated that clarity on the party's position is expected to come from senior party members, including Captain Thammanat. No instructions have been communicated to the party's prospective MPs.
