TikTok Set to Celebrate Decade of Influence and Innovation

Bangkok: TikTok is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary this Sunday, September 20th, marking a significant milestone since the app's launch. Over the past decade, the short-video platform has become a global phenomenon, altering how users create, consume, and share content online.

According to Thai News Agency, TikTok originally launched in China under the name Douyin before expanding internationally under its current name. The app's rapid rise to fame can be attributed to its short videos, music-driven trends, and an algorithm that recommends personalized content. These features have attracted over one billion users worldwide, leading to viral trends and the emergence of new online subcultures.

TikTok's influence extends beyond social media, impacting industries such as entertainment, advertising, music, and retail. The platform has played a pivotal role in launching creator careers, helping users discover new music, and compelling competitors like Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat to introduce their own short video features.

Despite its success, TikTok faces scrutiny over data security, privacy, and its ownership by Chinese technology company ByteDance. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most downloaded and widely used social media apps globally.
