Bangkok: "Torapong" of Thai Sang Thai is concerned about the lives of Thai crew members following the latest attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, and supports the use of diplomatic mechanisms to protect the welfare of Thai citizens. Mr. Torpong Chaiyasarn, Deputy Leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party, commented on the international conflict situation and foreign policy, expressing concern over the attack on the Thai-flagged cargo ship Mayuree Nari in the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that this incident serves as a crucial warning sign for the well-being of Thai people and the nation's economic interests.
According to Thai News Agency, amid escalating geopolitical tensions, the most urgent priority now is to expedite coordination to safely reunite stranded crew members with their families as soon as possible. This requires utilizing diplomatic mechanisms at all levels to negotiate and build understanding with countries in the area, ensuring that neutral civilians and cargo ships receive international protection.
In addition to concerns about crew welfare, Mr. Torpong also believes that the government and relevant agencies need to proactively assess the potential impacts, particularly on transportation costs and energy prices. Since the Strait of Hormuz is a key strategic global route, any disruption or increased risk would ultimately affect the cost of living for the public.
Therefore, demonstrating a neutral stance while upholding righteousness and the safety of the public is an urgent matter. It is also proposed that the plan for caring for Thai workers abroad be reviewed to include coverage of potential crises arising from conflicts in various regions, so that the public is confident that the government is ready to provide care and assistance in any situation, no matter where they are in the world.
