Texas: Tornadoes have ripped through the US state of Texas, damaging hundreds of homes, while hailstorms have injured more than 200 people in Brazil. At least one tornado tore through northern Texas on Tuesday, damaging more than 100 homes, according to Harris County authorities. A 68-year-old woman in Spring said the strong winds toppled trees and left her home surrounded by debris, but she was fortunately not seriously damaged.
According to Thai News Agency, the victim said he had lived in the house for nearly 35 years and had experienced many hurricanes before, but this was his first time experiencing a tornado. The strong winds and loud noises startled his 6- and 8-year-old grandchildren into tears. The items inside the house shook with the force of the wind. In addition to the house, many cars were also damaged by the tornado, but no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, in Brazil, a severe hailstorm struck the city of Erechim in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. Massive hail, some the size of eggs, damaged homes and cars. Local authorities reported that more than 10,000 households were affected and utilities were damaged. Officials also reported that 246 people were injured in the hailstorm. Authorities are assessing the total damage and providing relief assistance to those affected.
