Transport Company Prepares 1,200 Additional Buses for New Year Travelers

Bangkok: The Transport Company has announced its plan to accommodate the influx of travelers during the 2026 New Year Festival by arranging 1,200 additional buses. This measure is part of their strategy to manage the expected 120,000 daily passengers traveling during the festive period.

According to Thai News Agency, the Transport Company will deploy a total of 5,000 buses, supplemented by 1,200 additional buses, to cater to the increased demand from December 26, 2025, to January 5, 2026. Passengers traveling on northern and northeastern routes from December 26-30, 2025, starting at 6:00 PM, are advised to embark at the Krungthep Aphiwat Central Station.

Mr. Atthavit Rakjamroon, Managing Director of the Transport Company Limited (BKS), shared that a meeting was conducted to finalize the operational plan, with participation from agencies such as the Department of Land Transport (DLT), the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), along with police representatives.

The Transport Company Limited (BKS) anticipates a 10% increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year. From December 26-30, 2025, daily passenger numbers are expected to range from 120,000 to 180,000, with December 30 witnessing the peak at 180,000. The return trips from January 3-5, 2026, are projected to serve 100,000 passengers daily, with 4,800 trips available. The additional buses will help ensure adequate capacity and prevent any travel disruptions.

Passengers with advance bookings for BKS routes to the northern and northeastern regions should board at Krungthep Aphiwat Central Station, Gate 2. Convenient access to the station is available via the Blue Line, Red Line, buses, and taxis. Passengers are advised to check their ticket details and arrive at least an hour before departure to avoid congestion.

The Transport Company Limited (BKS) is working closely with various agencies to ensure smooth operations. This includes pre-trip inspections of buses and drivers, coordination with the SRT and BMTA for seamless connections, and collaboration with the Traffic Police Division to manage traffic around key bus terminals. Safety measures, such as alcohol and drug testing for drivers, will be strictly enforced.

The company has directed all staff and agencies to prioritize safety by conducting thorough inspections and ensuring drivers are well-rested and compliant with traffic laws, thereby maintaining public confidence in their transportation services.
