Treasury Department Auctions Prime Bangkok Land for Leasehold Rights

Bangkok: The Treasury Department is opening bids for the lease of four prime economic locations in Bangkok, seeking to generate revenue and maximize the value of state land through development. Mr. Akkharut Sonthayanon, Director-General of the Treasury Department, announced the auction of these four plots, each strategically located in Bangkok's economic zones.

According to Thai News Agency, the first plot on offer is located along the Chao Phraya River, adjacent to the ICONSIAM shopping complex in Khlong San district. This vacant land, measuring 4-2-34 rai (1,834 square meters), is open for private investment in building construction, with eventual ownership transferred to the Ministry of Finance. The area is known for its proximity to tourist attractions, international hotels, and convenient transportation options, including the BTS Gold Line and a ferry pier.

The second offering, known as the Baan Phayap Plot, includes three government-owned buildings near the Chao Phraya River in Phra Nakhon District. These buildings, with a total usable area of 465.44 square meters on a 0-2-49.2 rai plot, are situated near Wat Sam Phraya in a historical area rich in tourist attractions and traditional communities. The architectural value of these buildings makes them suitable for preservation and creative development.

The third plot features the Thonburi Building, a 4-story government-owned building near Wongwian Yai in the Thonburi district. With a usable area of 519.47 square meters, this location is ideal for office space due to its historical significance and proximity to the Khlong San innovation district. It offers easy access to major roads connecting the city center and surrounding suburbs.

The final property available for auction is located on Songwad Road in Samphanthawong District. This government-owned building, with a usable area of 90.40 square meters, is positioned in a bustling commercial area with high foot traffic, surrounded by cultural sites such as Chinatown and Talat Noi. The location is ideal for modern businesses like restaurants, cafes, bars, and lifestyle enterprises.

Mr. Akkharut emphasized the importance of utilizing state land to its fullest potential, revealing efforts to accelerate the auctioning process for various land plots. He also instructed regional treasury offices to expedite the renewal of existing contracts, which occur every three years. The department has already initiated the auctioning of key state land plots for development.
