Trump Affirms Strait of Hormuz Closure Amidst Ceasefire Negotiations

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until an agreement is reached, asserting the ongoing blockade in a message on Truth Social. He stated that Iran is eager for the reopening of the strategic waterway, as the closure could significantly impact its oil revenue. Despite this, Trump emphasized his commitment to maintaining the blockade during the ongoing ceasefire negotiations.

According to Thai News Agency, President Trump has previously announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire with Iran, aiming to facilitate diplomatic discussions during the seven-week-long conflict. He also noted that Pakistan had intervened, requesting a delay in any planned U.S. attacks to allow Iranian leaders time to devise a new proposal.

Meanwhile, senior Iranian officials have refuted claims of requesting a ceasefire extension. They have reiterated their willingness to employ force if necessary to counter the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports.
