Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States is in a strong position to potentially engage in conflict with Iran and is prioritizing the monitoring of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Thai News Agency, President Trump declared that the US military has the capability to operate independently within Iran due to the country's lack of naval, air force, and air defense capabilities, as well as its inability to intercept air traffic. He mentioned that Iran is approaching a critical point but stressed that this does not imply an immediate halt to US operations. The focus remains on observing the strait, which he described as being in a stable condition.
In a previous interview with CBS News, President Trump expressed that he was contemplating taking control of the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a threat to halt oil shipments from the Persian Gulf if the US and Israel continued their aggressive actions. A spokesperson for Iran's military command cautioned that global oil prices could potentially rise to $200 per barrel.
