Chiang mai: Paramilitary rangers engaged in a fierce clash with a drug trafficking gang in the Namaeun area of Mae Ai district, Chiang Mai. After the gunfire ceased, authorities inspected the area and found two deceased individuals and four modified backpacks containing a total of 600,000 methamphetamine pills.

According to Thai News Agency, a joint patrol with Border Patrol Police Company 334 conducted a patrol to intercept drug smuggling in the Namaeun area, Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province. They spotted 3-5 suspicious individuals walking across the border into Thailand and attempted to stop them for a search. The group opened fire on the officers, resulting in a gunfight lasting several minutes. After the gunfire ceased, officers inspected the area and found two deceased individuals and four modified backpacks containing a total of 600,000 methamphetamine pills. All members of the Border Patrol Police were unharmed. The seized items were handed over to Mae Ai Police Station for further legal proceedings.
