Nan: The rescue and disaster relief community is mourning the unexpected death of the head of the relief department of the Friends Helping Friends Foundation (Pha Yiam Yak) under the Thai Red Cross Society, who passed away while assisting flood-affected residents in Nan province.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suphamongkol, who led Relief Operations at the Friends Helping Friends Foundation, was actively involved in delivering essential supplies to those cut off by floods in Pua District. Collaborating with the Prasat Boon Sathan Foundation of Phitsanulok Province, the Kubota drone disaster response team, and the Singha volunteer team, Mr. Suphamongkol's mission centered on providing urgent food and water to residents in the sub-districts of Phuka, Silalang, and Woranakorn. These areas comprise 14 villages, 1,466 households, and over 4,000 individuals isolated since August 21st due to impassable roads.

Team members disclosed that Mr. Suphamongkol had pre-existing medical conditions and may have been deprived of adequate rest during the mission because of the relentless demands to aid the public. He passed away suddenly at a hotel, and medical inquiries are underway to ascertain the precise cause of his death. His teammates and others involved in the relief efforts are deeply saddened by his passing, as Mr. Suphamongkol remained committed to assisting his fellow citizens until his final moments. His legacy is marked by sacrifice and dedication, having chosen to be present in the most challenging times for the affected communities.
