Bangkok: A joint statement from three key parties outlines a turbulent two-day period in southern Thailand, affecting four provinces and resulting in 75 incidents with 11 reported injuries.

According to Thai News Agency, a press conference was convened at the Public Relations Center, Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Headquarters in Sirindhorn Camp, Yarang District, Pattani Province. Key officials including Colonel Ekwirit Chobchuporn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Headquarters, Police Colonel Sorachat Prampeng, and Lieutenant Colonel Cherd Aksornrat, detailed the situation that unfolded on August 22-23, 2026, across the southern border provinces.

Colonel Ekwirit Chobchuporn highlighted the severity of the incidents, which included arson, property destruction, and damage to public utilities. He emphasized the government's priority in addressing the incidents and their impact on daily life. Security agencies have been mobilized to assess the situation, gather evidence, and prosecute those responsible. In addition, the Prime Minister has instructed officials to restore normalcy and ensure community safety in affected areas.

Pol. Col. Sorachat Prampeng reported that the incidents spanned the provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla. Collaborative efforts between police and security agencies are underway to gather evidence and pursue the perpetrators. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage to trace the routes used by those involved, aiming to restore public confidence and ensure justice.

Lieutenant Colonel Cherd Aksornrat provided further details, noting that the violence resulted in 11 injuries and significant property damage, including 17 buildings and 40 vehicles. In response, the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center has set up a Communication and Assistance Center to facilitate aid and support for victims, coordinate damage assessments, and provide compensation. A dedicated team is working in the four provinces to ensure timely assistance and monitor progress around the clock.

The Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Headquarters urges the public to stay informed through official channels and report any suspicious activity to the 24-hour hotline.
