Bangkok: Four urgent measures have been announced to address the ongoing conflict between Uten Thawai College and Pathumwan Technical College, with both institutions being ordered to relocate and suspend all activities until a new location is secured.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Shane has mandated that Uten Thavai College relocate from its current premises within three months, during which time no classes are to be held. Similarly, Pathumwan Technical College faces a three-month closure, and any resumption of activities must occur at a new location. Chulalongkorn University has confirmed its commitment to not using the land for commercial purposes, instead planning to develop it into a learning center.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Yotsanulok Wongsawat, addressed the media following a high-level meeting focused on preventing clashes between Rajamangala University of Technology Eastern Campus, Uthenthawai Campus, and Pathumwan Institute of Technology. The meeting saw participation from Pol. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Professor Dr. Vilelert Phuriwat, Chulalongkorn University Rector, and administrators from Pathumwan Institute of Technology, along with faculty members from both institutions.

Mr. Yotsanan highlighted the strategic importance of Pathumwan as an economic, tourism, and educational hub, underscoring the necessity for stringent security measures. The meeting yielded four critical measures aimed at resolving the prolonged conflict between the institutions. These measures include the temporary closure of both institutions, with an indefinite suspension of classes if new facilities are not ready within the stipulated timeframe. Additionally, both institutions have been instructed to identify new locations promptly, while Chulalongkorn University is tasked with reclaiming the Uten Thawai land for non-commercial, educational development.
