Uten Thavai College Students Protest Relocation at Ministry of Higher Education

Bangkok:A group of students from Uten Thavai College stormed the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, demanding answers about the potential relocation of their institution. The students blocked the entrance to the ministry as they awaited a formal response on the matter.

According to Thai News Agency, the protest created a tense atmosphere in front of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Students from Rajamangala University of Technology Eastern, Uthenthawai Campus, used a sound truck to block the ministry's entrance and exit. The protest was led by alumni who criticized the policy of relocating the institution, with both alumni and current students holding signs to express their opposition.

To ensure security, a contingent of one hundred Bangkok Metropolitan Police officers was deployed to the area. The protest also affected the motorcade of Mr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, which had to reroute its entrance to the Ministry of Industry instead.
