Bangkok: Varawut Silpa-archa, a prominent member of the Bhumjaithai Party, has refrained from commenting on the call for a recount in Suphan Buri, deferring the responsibility to the Election Commission. He emphasized that the recount decision falls under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission and local administration.

According to Thai News Agency, Varawut explained that during the vote counting process, members of the Election Commission and representatives from all political parties were present, ensuring a transparent process. He noted that while a recount is within the Election Commission's prerogative, it remains uncertain if a court order will be necessary. As a directly affected party, Varawut chose to withhold further comment on the matter.

Varawut addressed questions regarding the potential spread of a new election movement, stating that despite differing opinions, regulations remain consistent across polling stations. He expressed confidence that the Election Commission and courts would apply uniform standards in all areas.

When questioned about the possibility of negotiating ministerial positions based on the current number of Members of Parliament under his purview, Varawut clarified that negotiations were never initiated. He joined the Bhumjaithai Party due to aligned campaign policies and shared perspectives. He conveyed satisfaction with the collaboration's strengthening effect but noted that future actions would rely on discussions among party leaders and executives regarding coalition government formation and strategies.

On inquiries about discussions concerning positions within the Bhumjaithai Party, Varawut affirmed that no such discussions had taken place. He also mentioned being unaware of coalition parties like the Palang Pracharath Party and the Economic Party joining the Bhumjaithai Party, indicating that senior party members would address these matters.
