War Elephants Focus on Recovery Ahead of Crucial Myanmar Clash

Bangkok: The "War Elephants" are accelerating their physical recovery before facing Myanmar. Anthony Hudson is working to restore the players' fitness after their return from the Philippines, vowing to create exciting football to bring fans back into the stadium.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai men's national football team returned to Thailand yesterday evening at Suvarnabhumi Airport after completing their third group stage match in Group B of the ASEAN Football Championship "Hyundai Cup 2026" against the Philippines. In that game, the Thai national team won 1-0 against the Philippines, giving them a perfect 9 points from the first 3 matches.

Head coach Anthony Hudson said that the most important thing right now is to let the players recover so they are in the best possible condition for the game against Myanmar. "Our initial goal is to focus on one game at a time, week by week. I have confidence in many of the players in the team because everyone has shown their ability to perform well, including the substitute players who came on in the game against the Philippines, who also performed very well," Hudson stated.

"The important thing, for my part, is to create exciting, entertaining football so that fans will come back to support the team again. My job is to get the fans back," he added.

Currently, Thailand leads Group B with 9 points from 3 matches, but their qualification is not yet guaranteed. To qualify, they must avoid defeat against Myanmar in their final match. A significant loss to Myanmar, coupled with Malaysia's victory over the Philippines, would create a head-to-head tie between Thailand, Malaysia, and Myanmar, requiring the goal difference between the three teams to be considered.

The next match in Group B, the fourth and final match, will see Thailand face Myanmar on August 8th at 8:00 PM at Rajamangala National Stadium.
