Bangkok: Warathep Rattanakorn, former Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, has expressed confidence that the Pheu Thai Party will secure all MP seats in Kamphaeng Phet Province. He noted that despite past challenges with less popular parties, he has consistently achieved victory alongside his team.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Warathep, after leading a team of Pheu Thai Party MP candidates in Kamphaeng Phet, emphasized the party’s strategy of unifying the province under a cohesive policy. He highlighted his two-decade-long commitment to this approach, stating that regardless of the party affiliation, the goal has always been to act as a unified team. In the upcoming elections, he plans to present a full slate of candidates in four constituencies, stressing that the outcome ultimately rests with the electorate. Mr. Warathep underscored the importance of self-confidence for election candidates.

During the announcement, Mr. Warathep introduced two candidates who are successors of former MPs, while the selection for the remaining constituency is under deliberation with the party. He reiterated the ambition to win all four constituencies and emphasized that Kamphaeng Phet has consistently pursued comprehensive provincial representation over the past 20 years.

Addressing the competition in other districts, particularly against Kamphaeng Phet MP Pai Lik, Mr. Warathep acknowledged that predicting outcomes is premature. He stressed the importance of candidates’ proposals, party affiliations, and public policy announcements in shaping the electoral landscape. He expressed a cautious optimism, recognizing the uncertainties inherent in Thai politics.

In response to concerns about the Pheu Thai Party’s declining momentum, Mr. Warathep shared his confidence in overcoming electoral challenges, citing past successes in 2019 and 2023. He argued that while some perceive the party to be on a downward trajectory, a broader perspective suggests potential for success by election day.

When questioned about the party’s target of securing 200 MPs, Mr. Warathep deferred to the party’s executives, while acknowledging the optimism of Pheu Thai’s election director, Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit. He suggested that achieving at least four out of the targeted 200 MPs could be a realistic expectation.

Reaffirming his confidence in a complete sweep of Kamphaeng Phet, Mr. Warathep concluded with a definitive, “Definitely.”
