Bangkok: “Weeraphan” has disclosed plans to invite both the Prime Minister and relevant ministers to explain the agenda of the Casino Committee next week, pending a decision from the meeting’s resolution.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wiraphan Suwannammai, a Senator and Chairman of the Senate’s Special Committee on the Study of Opening of Entertainment Complexes, addressed the upcoming second meeting of the committee. Scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., the meeting is intended to invite Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, to participate. Mr. Wiraphan expressed uncertainty about how the agenda details were leaked before being finalized. The committee will discuss the framework and consideration guidelines, and if external individuals are to be invited, it will likely occur on May 15. He noted that both the Prime Minister and relevant ministers could be invited to offer clarifications, aligning with the government’s desire to communicate with society. However, this will require a resolution from the committee meeting.
Mr. Wiraphan further explained that during the meeting on May 8, discussions would focus on setting the framework and guidelines and establishing subcommittees. He also plans to propose media access to the committee’s deliberations, though this too will need a resolution from the meeting.
The reporter noted that the proposal includes the formation of two initial subcommittees: one to assess economic impacts and another to evaluate social impacts.
