Weerayuth Nominated as New Leader of People’s Party Amid Legal Developments

Bangkok: The People's Party is set to convene for a crucial general meeting next week, where the nomination of Weerayuth as the new party leader is anticipated, alongside the nomination of Teng for the position of secretary-general.

According to Thai News Agency, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is also preparing for its general meeting, with similar expectations for Veerayuth and Teng to assume leadership roles. This meeting is scheduled during a significant time, as it aligns with the Supreme Court's hearing on April 24th regarding the case involving 44 former Move Forward Party MPs. These MPs had previously proposed amendments to Article 112 of the Criminal Code.

Reporters from the People's Party have highlighted the importance of these meetings, as they coincide with the potential legal outcomes from the Supreme Court. The court's decisions could range from rejecting the case, accepting it without imposing immediate consequences on the MPs, or directing the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to modify the complaint. The People's Party will be paying close attention to these legal proceedings during their annual general meeting, scheduled from April 24-26.
