Bangkok: Worasit Liengprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, has confirmed that the process of revoking the positions of civil servants involved in the local government examination corruption case will be completed by the August 31 deadline. According to Thai News Agency, Worasit emphasized that local authorities are progressing with the revocation process, following reports received from provincial authorities.

The Committee on Decentralization, Local Administration, and Special Administrative Arrangements of the House of Representatives has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Interior to address the situation of those appointed based on their capabilities. The proposal suggests that individuals ranked higher on the newly adjusted list should have the right to choose new areas. Worasit is currently directing the department to find solutions that do not disrupt the management of the new list.

In response to whether the revocation of local government official positions in several provinces is nearing completion, Worasit stated that many provinces have already completed this process, with recent provincial committee meetings held to ensure smooth proceedings by August 31. No problems have been reported so far, and a legal team is ready to assist anyone with concerns.

Regarding potential countersuits from dismissed government officials, Worasit mentioned that there are currently no reports of such actions being planned. He assured that the Ministry of Interior is prepared to provide clarification if the opposition raises the corruption issue during a no-confidence debate.

Worasit addressed allegations involving ministers or politicians associated with the government, noting that the Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights has raised the issue, which is subject to investigation. The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is conducting a comprehensive investigation, including a review of information from its 2021 investigation. The NACC aims to complete this investigation within six months, having already been underway for over two months.

Worasit reiterated that the allegations involving politicians or government-associated individuals would not pose problems. The Ministry of Interior and the NACC are handling the matter transparently, and anyone involved in corruption will face legal consequences.
