Nottingham Forest responded in the 64th minute with a goal from Igor Jesus, but Wrexham restored their two-goal advantage with a header by Dominic Hayam in the 74th minute.

Forest's Callum Hudson-Odoi quickly narrowed the gap, scoring in the 76th minute, and then equalized in the 89th minute, bringing the score to 3-3. The match remained tied through extra time, leading to a tense penalty shootout. Wrexham's goalkeeper, Arthur Okonko, made decisive saves against Igor Jesus and Omari Hutchinson, clinching the victory for Wrexham.
