Mukdahan: Police surrounded and apprehended a young man high on drugs who was wielding a machete and injuring an elder in the head. Police officers and villagers surrounded the house of a suspect who allegedly attacked a female village head with a machete, injuring her in the head and arm before she cried for help.

According to Thai News Agency, the image shows officers arresting Mr. Sanga, 47, after he fled into the forest following the incident. Officers and villagers searched for him throughout the night, and this morning they found him sleeping in his house. They then surrounded the house and apprehended him.

Later, reporters went to speak with Mrs. Sakawduen, the village head of Ban Kham Pom, Bang Sai Noi Subdistrict, Wan Yai District, Mukdahan Province, who was injured. They found many villagers visiting the injured female village head. She revealed that the incident occurred on July 31st at approximately 4:30 PM. She was riding her motorcycle to check on her rice field when she encountered Mr. Sanga, her cousin, in the adjacent field. Suddenly, she saw Mr. Sanga running towards her aggressively with a machete. Terrified, she abandoned her motorcycle and ran, tripping and falling in the rice paddy. Mr. Sanga caught up with her and attacked her with the machete. A struggle ensued before she cried for help. After the incident, she realized she had been cut in the head (requiring 6 stitches) and her arm (requiring 2 stitches). She added that if she hadn't fought back, she would have been killed in the field.

Initial investigations revealed that the perpetrator suffered from a mental illness but was not taking medication and had a history of drug involvement. Authorities will proceed with legal action.
