Pakkret: A van carrying Lao migrant workers was involved in a collision with a 10-wheel truck, resulting in injuries to at least ten individuals. The accident took place late last night on the Pakkret bypass road near the Sahakorn 3 Village intersection in Bang Phut Subdistrict, Pakkret District.
According to Thai News Agency, the van, a white Toyota, was transporting Lao workers to Nong Khai to renew their visas when it collided head-on with the truck. Dashcam footage from the van showed that the driver was neither drowsy nor speeding before the crash. However, the footage cuts off at the moment of impact.
Emergency responders found ten injured people inside the van, comprising five men and five women. Rescue workers promptly transported them to a hospital. One woman had to be freed from the vehicle using cutting and spreading tools as her legs were trapped under the dashboard. The 10-wheel truck involved in the crash sustained considerable front-end damage.
Further investigations revealed that the van was picking up Lao workers from Sahakorn 3 village when the accident occurred. Witnesses reported that the van was speeding out of an alley when it crossed into the path of the oncoming truck on the bypass road.
Mr. Singha, the driver of the truck, explained that he was traveling from Tiwanon Road towards Chaengwattana Road. As he approached the intersection, the van emerged from Soi Sahakorn 3 at high speed, leading to the collision. He was unable to stop in time to prevent the crash.
