Bangkok: On the first day of registration, 225,920 citizens took the opportunity to register for voting in the upcoming referendum outside their designated polling districts and abroad. This initiative allows those unable to vote at their registered locations due to various reasons to participate in the electoral process.
According to Thai News Agency, the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) reported these figures, highlighting the engagement of citizens eager to cast their votes in the referendum. The registration period, which spans from January 3rd to 5th, 2026, opened with significant participation. Of the total registrants on the first day, 207,439 individuals registered to vote outside their registered districts, while 18,418 opted to vote from outside the Kingdom.
The referendum voting process has been designed without an advance voting option. Instead, citizens will cast their votes outside their registered districts on February 8th, coinciding with the general election date. This arrangement ensures that those unable to be present at their home polling stations still have the chance to exercise their democratic rights.
