52 Tourists Injured as Bus Collides with Power Pole on Temple Visit

Phetchaburi: A tour bus carrying tourists to visit nine temples lost control and crashed into a power pole on Phetkasem Road in Phetchaburi province, injuring numerous passengers.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 7:10 AM today on Phetkasem Road, southbound lanes, kilometer 207, in Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province. A white tour bus belonging to a private company crashed into a high-voltage power pole on the side of the road. The front of the bus was severely damaged.

Upon receiving the report, the Cha-am District Chief, along with police officers from Cha-am Police Station, the Phetchaburi Provincial Transport Office, a medical team and ambulance from Cha-am Hospital, and rescue workers, coordinated their efforts to the scene to provide urgent assistance to the victims. They also coordinated with the Provincial Electricity Authority to temporarily cut off the power supply to prevent further danger and ensure the safety of residents in the surrounding area.

Initially, there were 52 passengers on board the vehicle, a group traveling from Bangkok to participate in a religious ceremony in Prachuap Khiri Khan province. 16 of them sustained minor injuries and received first aid before being taken to Cha-am Hospital for further examination.

Six injured people requiring monitoring have been sent to Hua Hin Hospital for treatment. The driver, who sustained injuries from the impact, is currently receiving treatment at Cha-am Hospital. Following the accident, the driver helped ensure the passengers were safely evacuated from the vehicle.

Cha-am police officers inspected the scene, gathered evidence, and reviewed footage from nearby CCTV cameras to investigate the true cause of the accident.
