95,059 Merchants Receive Payments Under “Half-Price Plus” Skills Development Initiative

Bangkok: 95,059 merchants participating in the “Half-Price Plus” project have successfully received payments following their compliance with new skills development criteria. The government confirmed the transfer of funds aimed at enhancing skills or acquiring new ones among eligible merchants. For those whose transfers were unsuccessful, additional attempts will be made.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the Ministry of Finance has disbursed subsidy funds to merchants who are part of the Upskill or Reskill program under the “Half-Price Plus” Project. The funds were transferred through Krung Thai Bank accounts linked to the “Thung Ngern” application.

Out of 97,086 eligible merchants, 95,059 received financial support. The subsidies varied, with 34,970 merchants, approximately 36% of the recipients, receiving the maximum subsidy of 2,000 baht. The total government support for the project reached 117.47 million baht. However, 2,027 merchants did not receive support as they lacked sales transactions from the government-co-payment portion within the specified timeframe.

Mr. Siripong explained the calculation of government support, which is 20% of sales generated from the “Half-Price Plus” project, specifically from the government-contributed portion, until December 19, 2025. For instance, a merchant with sales of 9,000 baht from this portion would receive a support payment of 1,800 baht. Merchants can review their sales history through the “Sales Summary” menu in the “Thung Ngern” application.

For those who did not receive the subsidies due to unsuccessful transfers, the government will make two more attempts on January 30, 2026, and February 27, 2026. If the funds are not claimed by these deadlines, it will be assumed that the merchants have declined the funds under the program.
