Nakhon si thammarat: Abhisit Vejjajiva visited Nakhon Si Thammarat, declaring the Democrat Party's comeback and promoting policies such as "65,000 baht upon birth, 100,000 baht upon adulthood, and a universal 1,000 baht allowance for senior citizens."
According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere was lively during a campaign visit by Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, along with Mr. Chaichana Dechdecho, deputy leader of the Democrat Party in charge of the southern region, and Mr. Sathit Wongnongteuy, deputy leader of the Democrat Party, to the Thewada Fresh Market in Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. They were there to support Mr. Chanwattana Issarawatana, candidate for Member of Parliament, Nakhon Si Thammarat Constituency 9, number 3.
The event saw a large turnout of people who welcomed Mr. Abhisit warmly. He engaged with the crowd in a humorous manner, noting that even after 30 years in politics, he was still remembered as "still handsome," which drew laughter from those present.
Mr. Abhisit articulated the Democrat Party's readiness to serve the people with practical policies. He emphasized the continuation of the elderly allowance program he initiated, which will now increase to 1,000 baht universally, removing the waiting list requirement. He also highlighted key policies on education and newborns, proposing a 65,000 baht allowance for newborns in their first year and a savings system for children to accumulate 100,000 baht by the age of 18.
Regarding education, Mr. Abhisit stressed the need to upgrade the Democrat Party's 15-year free education policy to "truly free education" without hidden costs. The government would cover expenses for equipment, uniforms, transportation, and food to reduce the financial burden on parents.
He also addressed issues of integrity in politics, expressing concern over "grey money" groups and scammers along the borders. He warned against allowing such funds to influence political power.
Mr. Abhisit urged the people of Nakhon Si Thammarat to vote for the Democrat Party, number 27, using pink ballots, and for their constituency representative, "Chanwattana," number 3, a diligent individual ready to tackle problems like low rubber prices and the sluggish economy affecting the region.
